Kwakelpad
The residents of a farmhouse in Hensbroek, municipality of Koggenland, approached us with the dream of turning their unique location into a circular co-housing project.
Kwakelpad wants to profile itself as an attractive and sustainable living environment. A modern hamlet, consisting of a farm, flexible living volumes and a multifunctional workshop, producing green energy, sustainable food, and sharing electric cars.
A 'kwakel' is an old word for a high, narrow footbridge. The Kwakelpad meanders through the open meadow landscape. The West Frisian farmhouse and the polder landscape are characteristic of this place. For our clients we've designed an ensemble of buildings that will form the new yard of the hamlet.

De Vuurplaats
De Vuurplaats, in Oosterwold, is an initiative of seven households with the shared desire to live in freedom ánd connection. Symbolically, there is a fireplace in the center of the residential area, around which the group can meet each other in a casual manner.
How do you divide lots and which facilities do you want to share or not? What is the balance between individual expression and a coherent image? Woonpioniers guided this group in various steps in answering these kinds of questions.
After approval of the spatial plan by the municipality, three of the households also commissioned us to design their home. The first piles are now, end of 2020, in the ground!
